These lights generate high temperature. The electrode and filament work to change their physical state. It makes ballast not match with the situation, it becomes more and more serious, so that shorten the life span.

induction light vs LED lightLVD™ Induction Light

Induction light vs LED lightLED Light

Average Rated Life 100,000 Hrs 50,000 Hrs
Ballast Life LVD™ ballasts are built to last 100,000 hours for separate fixtures, and 60,000 hours for compact fixtures. The induction light tubes, because there are not filaments and electrodes, will last for ever. LED itself can last 50,000 Hrs life, which is limited by the integrated chips. however, the best brand ballast driver for LED would have average rated life of 15,000 to 20,000. Ballast life greatly constrains the life of LED light.
Effective Light Efficacy For reliable commercial use: 100 - 150 Plm/W Current technology for commercial use: 50 - 90 Plm/W
Lumen depreciation(%)  5% @ 2000 Hrs Higher than induction light depending on each design
Light quality Full spectrum, high color rendering, no glare Limited spectrum, lower color rendering, glare
Cost of purchase Much Lower Very High
Return on Investment Immediate Long period
Heat Sink The light tube does not generate much heat. Heat generated by the ballast can be dispersed easily, especially for those light fixture models that separate the tube and the ballast Due to the fact that LED underperforms or even fails when temperature rises. Therefore aggressive heat sink needed to disperse the heat generated by the electronic chips and the ballast. Compact LED lamp create even bigger issue for heat dispersing.
Fixture size and weight Small and compact for high power lights big size and heavy for high power lights - due to the aggressive heat sink needed
Environment Temperature impact Maintain excellent performance and lumen output with environment temperature from -40°F to 122°F Performance and lumen output drastically reduced when environment temperature is above 77°F.
Capacity (power and light output) Induction light are available over 300 watt, and provide over 50,000 pupil lumen for each light. Some models with 500watt are now available. The biggest high power LED is 1 watt at current commercial use (very expensive). So high power LED light will require hundreds of LEDs. Due to the fixture size and heat sink constrain, LED light are generally build under 150W (200W if fan cooled), and give the light output of less than 20,000 lumens.
Applications Unlimited. Excellent in the high moisture, extreme temperature environment. Endure vibration and dust. Mostly for indoor. For outdoor applications, dust and bird dropping compromise the heat sink performance, and therefore compromise LED light performance
Light design and Fixture creativity Limited, comparable to traditional lights Unlimited, due to the small size of each LED unit.
Recommended Applications Outdoor lighting, commercial lighting, industrial lighting - street light, tunnel light, flood light, tunnel light, garden light, canopy light, down light, explosion proof light, ground light, etc. Indoor, residential, office, commercial - spot light, down light, panel light, projection light. strip light... etc.
Low frequency induction lamp High frequency induction lamp
Basic characteristics External core structure, easy for heat dissipation, given the flexibility to select tube size and shape, with a single magnetic ring and two pairs of magnetic configuration, the inductor volume. core built-in structure is not conducive to heat dissipation, only the bubble-shaped structure with a ball, single-core, a small amount of inductance.
wide power range, 15W - 400W Less choice of power range(different factories has different choice)
Available for different power types according to customers' demand(50W、60W、70W、100W、250W, etc). Available for different power types according to customers' demand
Low temperature of tube surface High temperature of bulb-tube surface
Good low temperature start-up performance Poor low temperature start-up performance.
Differences in electrical properties of matching Specific IC chip  self-activated core-level exchange of the way MHZ output signal, with the temperature changes the frequency and lamp power will change.
And regulation-specific IC chip technology Hard to realize the dimmable technology.
Difference between photometry Round, rectangular structure, the use of special reflectors makes it be used in a variety of applications. Bulb-type structure, type of light emitting points, a general lighting device matching with reflective, reflective design is easier.
Compared with the same power of HID lamps, it has higher luminous efficiency. Compared with the same power of low frequency induction lamps, it has poor luminous efficiency
